About ProjectPitBull.org
A Note from the Founder: Jason Mann
The picture at the top of this page is why my love for American
Pit Bull Terriers exists. That is my dog Angel at a whopping 3 weeks old. Isn't
she cute?
While I would love to stroll down memory lane with you there are more important
matters that need addressing. ProjectPitBull.org exists because when I bought
Angel from a breeder in January of 2001 I was ignorant about the plight of
the American Pit Bull Terrier.
Don't get me wrong I did my research, I checked out websites, bought all the
books at the book store but the rescue situation escaped me. Maybe I didn't want
to see it. Regardless of why I didn't catch it the first time around as I waited
for my dog to arrive I went online and started to research the breed further.
During this time is when I was first exposed to Pit Bull rescue and why there
were so many people out there trying to help these dogs. You see, I still didn't
really understand. I thought, well all dogs need homes and are surrendered to shelters.
I didn't really understand until I saw a dog on a rescue page that had been
burned on a BBQ grill.
My heart sank. Tears were in my eyes, and anger was in my heart. I wished I
could find the people who did that to the dog and harm them. Harm them badly. Around
the same time I was creating PitBullLovers.com.
So instead of letting that anger boil inside me I thought, "I am going to make it a point to share rescue information
on PBL." I did just that.
As time passed I gradually added more information to PBL. Working hard day and
night. The site has over 300 pages of free Pit Bull Terrier information and is
one of the most popular Pit Bull related sites online. Something was missing though.
A few years ago I was writing an article about Pit Bull rescue and the idea
came to me. Why not start a website that offers Pit Bull fosters and rescues
an extra way to get exposure for their dogs for free. Thus, ProjectPitBull.org
was born. Though it was not made public until late 2008.
Over the last couple of years ProjectPitBull.org has been a pet project of
mine, until now. I now have the time to make this puppy bark and that is
just what I hope will happen.
With the help of Pit Bull owners around the world
I plan to not only help get more exposure for Pit Bulls needing forever homes
but to ultimately build a professional kennel facility where Pit Bulls can
find refuge, get training, have great health care, and live in peace while
we work to find them forever homes.
Big dream? Yes. Will it happen? I have never been more certain of anything
in my life.
Sincerely,
Jason Mann
